Erasmus+ “It’s logical, dear maths!” Mobility students – Sao Joao da Madeira

We  six  Italian students  participating in  this project  belonging to two different classes: Tirone Carmela,Vele Alessia, Verlezza Rosalba form 2°A and  Capuano Federica, Faustino Sofia, Renzi Alessia from 2°B. With our teachers Mena de Maria and Patrizia Sgrò, we left Naples on Sunday 12th 2019 to take part in the Erasmus+ project (It’s logical dear Maths) that took place in São João da Madeira (Portugal) from 12 to 19 May 2019.

The main goal of this project is to combine game and study, with the use of recreational activities to promote learning.

The Countries involved in the project are Italy, Greece, Portugal, Hungary and Lithuania.

We are really willing to tell about our fabulous experience.

On Sunday morning we arrived at the wonderful city of   Porto where we spent part of the day visiting the Atlantic Ocean. In the evening we went back to the airport where  we met our mates from the  other countries involved in the project and together went to the hotel.

The next day, Monday 13th, we went to school where we were warmly welcomed by the Portuguese team and the mayor of the city. We took part in ice-breaking activities, we were divided into groups composed by guys of different countries.

During the afternoon we visited Torreira, a place on the Atlantic ocean.

On Tuesday morning was held the logical and maths contest and in the afternoon we visited the famous factory of pencils Viarco and the hat museum, both located in São João da Madeira.

Both visits caught the attention of the whole team because they showed us how to produce simple items that we use daily.

The following day we went to the Auroca National Geopark, a place completely surrounded by nature, where we spent most of the day, and we had fun together.

Another activity based on logic and maths was held on thursday morning. We realised origami helped by the Portuguese mates. After lunch we went to Aveiro, a city similar to our Venice and we had a trip on a small boat. Later we tried the typical local sweets (ovos moles) and in the evening we said goodbye to some teams during the fare-well party, that took place in the school.

The last day of the mobility we all   visited Porto and its touristic attractions. The place that mostly impressed us was the Lello’s library because it seemed to be in a magical spot and in another epoch. Sadly in the evening we said goodbye to the other teams.

We also had free time for doing shopping and buying souvenirs.

On Sunday the journey ended. It has left us an unforgettable experience.

This experience has enriched our cultural knowledge and provided us the opportunity to use the English language  in order to face and to interact with people from other nationalities, in this way we have  discovered to have a lot in common.

We all agree that this has been an experience to repeat for its high educational value.

We have had the chance to partecipate in this educational and beautiful project and we all agree that this is an experience to do again.
